Closed Circuit Television Video inspection is essential for assessing the condition of the pipe to determine if replacement is required, or, if not, which rehabilitation method would provide the most cost-effective remedy. Sewers are prone to a wide number of constructional and operational problems including open/displaced joints, roots, infiltration & inflow, cracking, fracturing, exfiltration, collapse, deformation and more. Therefore, sewer CCTV inspection still remains the best tool for locating and evaluating these structural defects in underground pipes. The Pan and Tilt Camera is typically mounted on a self-propelled transporter and is remotely controlled from the TV truck, combined with camera controls that provide the ability to overlay alpha-numeric data on the video image to provide a great deal of information, including date, line ID and distance from manhole, etc. When performing CCTV inspections, SCS technicians use the pan & tilt cameras and video equipment to inspect and record pipe conditions, pipe walls, joints and service connections. The image and overlay data is transmitted to the van and recorded onto DVD. At the same time, coded data is entered into an Access Database and coded in the WRc standards (other formats available upon request). The completed video inspection provides an invaluable record for making maintenance and repair decisions. When the inspections are complete, a report containing a comprehensive pipeline profile and evaluation is printed to accompany each video inspection.

LAMP Camera Inspection System:
The self propelled (motorized crawler) LAMP system accomplishes a one pass pan and tilt inspection of the mainline ranging from 6" through 24" diameter, with a simultaneous inspection of the adjacent lateral services up to 80 ft. Equipped with two high resolution cameras, the LAMP system allows a picture in picture feature which enables the operator to monitor the pan and tilt inspection of the mainline and launch a camera from the mainline to inspect the adjacent lateral service. The LAMP system is an indispensable inspection tool for identifying the structural condition of lateral services as well as mainline sewers!

Locating SCS uses the Dynatel 2250 electronic locator to pinpoint the exact location of underground services, pipe defects, buried manholes or line deflections. By sending a transmitter down the line with the CCTV inspection camera we can carry the transmitter to the exact point that needs to be located. While above ground we trace this location with the receiver, giving us an exact location of where we are in the line. |
